Dave DIY | 7 Air Purifying Houseplants That Are Nearly Impossible To Kill

Adding indoor house plants is a sustainable way to vastly improve indoor air quality!

Commonly cited by NASA, whose research found that certain indoor plants are useful in absorbing harmful glasses and cleaning indoor air. Although houseplants won't clear the air nearly as much as an air filter might, they are aesthetically pleasing and make us feel connected to nature, and provide feelings of content and calm at home.

Here are some detoxifying plants to add to your home, all of which can tolerate moderate to low light levels.

These are great because they help remove low levels of formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene from the air. They thrive in moderate indirect sunlight and high humidity climates. Great as a hanging planter on a pedestal or atop a shelf. According to NASA, they are the A-list air purifier. You have most likely seen them at the office, the mall, or out and about. It's also pet friendly too!

These houseplants trail as they grow, and make excellent hanging plants on a window or decorating a bookshelf. They are known for their silvery leaves that catch and reflect light, and only need watering every 1-2 weeks. Each Pothos is unique in its coloring and pairs well with others. They are easy to care for and great for homes and offices and will eventually trail and spill out, showcasing their long vines.

They remove low levels of formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene in the air. A great easy houseplant to take care of and perfect for propagating as well. (They! Make! Babies!) Its lush leaves spread out in all directions and bursting shoots that look beautiful when they are outgrown! Adds a glow to any space.
