Dave's Picks | Tips To Keep Your New Year's Resolution!

Alright let’s do this

A new year can offer you a chance to choose what you want to work towards. A resolution is an intention or a goal that you want to work towards the best version of yourself. Or maybe you're looking to make some changes or fundamental habits or outlooks in your life.

Here are some tips to help set some for the new year.

  1. Begin thinking about your resolutions at least a few days from the start of the New Year. Sleep on them a few times. Write them down. Visualize what it will be like to tick them off at the end of the year. Can you see that happening? If not, keep trying.

  2. Make more than one resolution, but not too many. One resolution can be too much pressure on your life. Too many, and you may lose clarity.

  3. Make SMART resolutions that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.
A resolution as general as 'losing weight’ isn't a great one if you don't have a time frame or a set goal weight. Set goals like going to the gym, committing to cooking a new recipe each week can be a good start.

  4. Have a mixture of goal time frames. Don't load yourself up with too many daily habits. Try picking only one new habit, one weekly habit, a quarterly goal, and one annual 'once-off' goal.

  5. Tell someone! You don't have to share it with everyone on your Instagram. Tell someone like your family member or your friends - accountability is important and it is a great motivator.

Happy resolution-making!

Given that it's that time of year again, it's never too late to begin a fresh new start.
