Living in New York means living in a place that is sometimes prone to postal fiascos, missed delivery dates, and mail theft. Thanks to Bushwick Post, the neighborhood's new independently owned shipping, mailing and printer center. Now Bushwick residents may never have to worry about sprinting home to try and get their packages again.
The owners Erin Calabrese and Stella Sensel have deep roots in New York. They have lived in Harlem for years and bought a house in Bushwick in 2013. After having packages stolen from their doorsteps, (SEVEN. TIMES.) Calabrese and Sensel decided to open up Bushwick Post β near the Wilson L stop and across the street from Routine β as a way to avoid postal nightmares.
In addition to providing this unique and personalized mailing service, the Bushwick Post is a community-focused business. Calabrese and Sensel are dedicated to employing local residents, to keep a range of services high and prices low while accommodating the neighborhood's postal needs.
As the business grows, Calabrese and Sensel want to start using the Bushwick Post as a space for community events on Sundays, when they are typically closed. They'd like to start nonprofit organizations that provide free seminars on immigration services, and business and community support. βAs an LGBT-owned business, our philosophy has always been βmake the table bigger,'β says Calabrese. βPeople have been overwhelmingly kind in supporting us, and for the most part, pretty welcoming.β
