One of Brooklyn's most popular and beloved festivals is returning, this time as a HYBRID Festival. The events will take place virtually AND in-person as well, depending on your comfort level and allowing larger audiences to tune in from beyond the city.
Big literary names are confirmed for events throughout the week, including Hanif Abdurraqib, Rumaan Alam, Paul Auster, Melissa Broder, Lauren Groff, Candice Iloh, Jonathan Lethem, Viet Thanh Nguyen, Joyce Carol Oates, and many more. You can check out this link for a full list of authors that will be attending.
For the younger children, there will be a BKBF Children's Day on October 2m which will encompass a full day of readings, workshops, performances, book signings, yoga, and art projects with authors and illustrators.
Bookend events include lectures and programs with local authors that will be held in independent bookstores, universities, bars, and more venues across the city. And of course, ZOOM.
The mission of the Brooklyn Book Festival is to celebrate published literature and nurture a literary cultural community through programming that cultivates and connects readers of all ages and backgrounds. This event is one of New York City's largest free literary festivals that aims to connect readers with local, national, and international authors.
If you are a book lover and you are 18 years old and older, you can also apply to be a volunteer at the marketplace and festival! Update: BBF is no longer accepting volunteers but maybe keep this in mind for next year.
Live and virtual programs kick off Sunday, Sept 26th, and runs through Monday, October 4.
